2009
has been Nathan's strongest year yet. Riding fast and placing in the top ten at most of this years Comp Category races.
Here is a race recap from Buck Hill Birch Bump on August 9th.
Well here goes for my recap of Buck. First racing with
a new born is hard on my sleep and ride time. I've been lucky to squeak in two days a week since Lauren was born.
Plus my sleep generally only comes in 2 and 3 hour intervals. Anyway, I started
Buck strong, maybe 10 guys back and right on Luke's wheel. Luke and I worked our way up to maybe 5-6 guys back
in our group by the top of the hill. Things were looking good! Then I bobbled on a bumpy single track turn
and ended up in the weeds and lost about 5 places. After that all flow had left me and all I was thinking about was
hold on. Things started to come together around the fourth lap, and to my amazement one of the guys in my
age had wiped out and was getting up right as I passed him. Timing! I was able to hold him off through
the 5th lap and found some sort of flow through the singletrack. Not my best race, but not terrible for going in cold
and sleep deprived. Looking forward to the Border Battle, this time I'm going to bed at like
8:30 so I can get my 8 hours of sleep in. |
