Jack Baker from Granite Falls
Once again Jack started behind most of the racers.  Jack was in the 3rd wave which made him start in about 85th place.  For a lot of the race he was stuck in the single-track behind other racers but when the path opened up wide enough, he made up that time.  Jack had the power to pass many riders and work all the way up to 39th place.  It was a dirty course which we could tell by looking at Jack at the finish line.  The dust sticks to you and goes into your throat and mouth.  Of course Jack is always in high spirits and joking after the race so it was a good day.  Great job Jack!!

Luke competed in the short track race on Sat and the XC on Sun

Luke Baker was not in the first wave of riders at the Border Battle.  He was not in the second or third wave either.  3 minutes after the first riders started the race, Luke was able to start with the rest of the 19 and under riders.  Luke passed a lot of racers and considering the number of people in the race, placed really well.  He placed 13th overall and first in his age group.  Trent Werner on the LCR team was again right on his wheel at the finish.
Luke also raced the day before at the Camden Classic where he placed 4th overall out of 23 racers.  That was an 18 mile mountain bike race at Camden State Park.

Above is the 2009 Chequamegan Short and Fat 16 mile bike race.  Luke placed 3rd overall!

Allison Baker
Allison raced on Saturday at Camden Classic where she puked twice.  The next day she raced in Wisconsin at the Border Battle where she placed 21st out of 35 women.  After the first lap, Allison was just seconds behind Andrea Horner on the LCR team but the fatigue from the day before set in.  Allison was faster then 6 ladies from Wisconsin who drove all the way from Milwaukee.  She also beat Micohle Hendricks on the LCR team who she is now beating in the MNSCS overall points.
